01 / KEEP THE TRUCK MOVING

A few minutes.
Multiplied by every trip.

Enter the time paper takes at both ends of the trip. Then account for the time a digital workflow still needs.

Fleet activity
Use your operating rate or billable rate. A billable rate values capacity, not cash savings.
Ticket handling
Planning assumption for pickup and delivery combined. Replace it with observed time.

One round trip is counted once. Pickup and delivery minutes are added; the trip count is not doubled.

What the recovered time can mean

More room in the day.
Across the whole operation.

The useful question is what your team could do with the time—and whether it changes a real business cost.

01 / THE TRUCK

Put time back on the road.

Shorter ticket handling can make room in a truck’s day. Whether that becomes another load depends on routes, queues, demand, and dispatch.

02 / THE OFFICE

Use the role more effectively.

Time spent chasing and working through paper can be redirected to work that needs attention. Staffing decisions turn that capacity into payroll savings.

03 / THE HANDOFF

Give billing a better starting point.

Organized digital records connect the work to the office. Review your ticket-to-invoice process in a demo to identify the handoffs worth improving.

A useful estimate is an honest one

Know what
the numbers mean.

Why does the example start with five minutes at each end?

It is a planning example: five minutes handling a pickup ticket and five minutes handling a delivery ticket. Adjust both to match your actual process. They are added once per round trip.

Does $150 an hour mean we save $150 for every hour recovered?

It means the recovered truck time is valued at the rate you entered. If that is a billable rate, the result describes potential gross revenue capacity. Cash savings, contribution margin, and extra revenue depend on what changes in the operation and the work available.

Does SHIFT eliminate the full $70,000 office salary?

The calculator does not assume that. It values the portion of a role you could recover using your estimated workflow share and time reduction. A full avoided hire requires sufficient work to be removed or absorbed and a real decision not to add that employee.

Can I use actual pilot results?

Yes. Replace the digital handling time and office time reduction with observations from your own workflow. A before-and-after measurement makes the model more useful than a generic assumption.

Is this a return-on-investment calculation?

This is a time-value model. It does not subtract SHIFT subscription, implementation, or operating costs, and it does not convert capacity into guaranteed cash savings. Keep driver or truck time separate from office time so the same minutes are not counted twice.
